TEXTBOOK: PRECALCULUS with Limits, Ron Larson and Robert Hostetler, Houghton Mifflin, 2007.

SUPPLIES:    Graphing Calculator.

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Upon completion of this course the students should be able to do the following:

1. Demonstrate algebraic techniques necessary for calculus
2. Demonstrate trigonometric techniques necessary for calculus
3. Use vectors to solve problems, both in 2 dimensions and in 3 dimensions
4. Find partial fraction decomposition and solve nonlinear systems
5. Analyze conic sections in both rectangular and polar coordinates

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
Attend lectures, complete required exams, quizzes, and assignments. Labs are to be completed with a lab partner. Graphing calculators are used in lieu of trig tables.

WITHDRAWAL POLICY:

Under section 51.907 of the Texas Education Code, students may not withdraw from more than six courses including any course a transfer student has withdrawn fom at another Texas institute of higher education. For exemptions, visit http://www.ccccd.edu/aro/withdrawal.htm.

Last Day to Drop with a “w” is October 16, 2009. NO EXCEPTIONS!

To drop this class, you need to do the following:
1. Attain a Drop/Add sheet from the registrar’s office;
2. Turn in the completed form to the office of Admission and Records 972-881-5710 on or prior to the drop deadline date;
3. All students will receive an F if they do not finish this class and do not withdraw on or prior to the drop deadline date.
4.   Make sure your six course limit is satisfied.

You may repeat this course only once after receiving a grade, including W. If you drop the course before the census date, September 8, 2009, you will not be penalized in regard to the repeat policy. If you drop the class after the census date, a grade of W will be posted to your transcript and count as one attempt toward the repeat policy.
