Course description: Course introduces students to Green interior design and the built environment. Emphasis is placed on: analyzing indoor air quality (IAQ), green interior materials and finishes, green cleaning materials, and providing plans and solutions for creating a healthier interior environment. Upon completion of the course, students should understand the building as an environmental system, where each design choice influences and is influenced by the many interrelated parts that make up the building’s environment. The building is then understood as a part of the larger neighborhood, city, regional, and ultimately global environment. Students will be able to make informed choices as designers and users of buildings to minimize environmental impact and maximize the beauty, comfort, and productivity of a building and the health and enjoyment of its occupants.
