Present and discuss site diagrams

Refining diagrams into site plans

Preliminary site plans:

  • are the next level of refining the design from the site diagram
  • are expected to change once buildings are designed
  • should include:
    • Streets, sidewalks and paths
    • Parking lots and structures with spaces defined
    • Outlines (footprint) of commercial/office buildings
    • Residential lot lines
    • Parks and landscaping
    • Shared amenities
Site plan examples:

Assignment -

Refine your site diagram into a site plan. Complete all roads and shared parking. Divide the development areas into "lots" (both residential and commercial). Show preliminary building outlines with approximate footprint areas (in square feet) for commercial, office, and mixed-use. Use same scale and sheet size as site diagram. Due Monday, 3/2.

Wednesday, 2/25

LEED-CS (Core and Shell) - used for building envelope and systems. CS buildings are planned to be leased to tenants who complete fit-out using LEED-CI (Commercial Interiors).

Energy Star designation for Commercial building design - for buildings that achieve a score of 75 on a 1-100 scale that measures energy efficiency

Green Globes system, Green Building Initiative - scores buildings on a 1000-point scale in several categores. Certification is one to four globes.
