Week 15 Notes

Tonight is a work session for the fnal project.

The project is due next Wednesday, 12/10 at 8pm.

To turn in:

  1. Final Project Poster
  2. Print Portfolio
  3. Coursework CD - containing the following:
    • Video Portfolio
    • Still renderings for Print Portfolio and Poster
    • AutoCad (or other format) file for Poster
  4. Release form (optional, for publishing student work on IAD website)

Final Project Poster

Design and create a poster showing your final project design. The poster should be 24x36” and include text and renderings. The design is up to the student, but could take the form of a client presentation or an advertisement for the gallery.
The poster can be created using an AutoCad layout and printed on the plotter. Use Insert > Raster Image to add images to the layout.

Large images should be rendered as high resolution images so they don’t appear fuzzy when stretched. Select the custom size option in the render dialog box and input a large pixel count (2000-3000 or so).

Your name should be on the poster, but no larger than ½”.

Video Portfolio

The portfolio should show several of the assignments completed during the semester. It should include at title scene with your name and "3DS Max Portfolio" or similar text. Do not use the course name if you plan to use the portfolio in real life.

The final video should be at least 120 seconds long and use a frame rate of 12. Render at 640X480; you may need to re-render some video files before video post, if they were originally rendered at a smaller size (VP will stretch them, and it's ugly).

Include the house renderings, the renderings of the final project, and the best of your other assignments. You can create titles for each "scene" in the video if you like.

Print Portfolio

Create a professional portfolio to show your Max skills to potential clients. The portfolio should contain high-quality, full-page renderings of your best work. Include renderings of the house project, the final project, and at least 4 other assignments. There should be at least 12 pages.

The renderings should be sleeved and bound. Your name should be either on the cover or a title sheet.
