    Recycling availability varies by area; check with local government and waste companies
  • Separate recyclable materials - brick, concrete, wood, metals, etc.
  • Divert as much as possible from landfill
  • Be aware of possible hazardous waste & dispose of accordingly

Discussion questions -

Is it better to reupholster a client's existing sofa or purchase a new one?

Is it better to cover over an existing floor or remove it before installing a new material?

Your client does not want to pay the fee to recycle the lumber waste from their remodel. What do you do?

How do LEED-CI and LEED-H handle use of recycled and reused materials to gain LEED credit?

Find at least 3 resources for salvaged or used materials or furnishings; they must be in the North Central Texas area and not already listed above. Do not include antique stores unless they carry architectural antiques. Example - used office furniture or restaurant salvage.

How do you recycle/reuse the following materials in our area? Or if not recyclable, what must you do to dispose of them? Write a one-page "How-to" guide to post on the department website. Bring a hard copy to class and e-mail me a digital copy.
