Frequently Asked Questions:

Q.1 How can I get a hold of the instructor away from class?
A.1  See the information under About Me for office hours and room number.

Q.2 Can I take my exams early?
A.2 No.  Do not register for this course if you want to take an exam early.  I will not accept any excuse, including that you have purchased an airline ticket to go home and cannot get your money back.

Q.3 What is the best way to contact the instructor?
A. In class or by email are the fastest ways. Please include your name with all of your emails, your return email address is not sufficient if it does not contain your first and last name. If you are registered under a different last name than you go by then please use the name under which you are registered.

Q.4 What is the Study Guide?
A.4 The Study Guide is a series of multiple-choice questions that may be used to prepare for your exams.  It is highly recommended that you answer all of the questions and know why your answers are correct prior to taking an exam.  The Study Guide may be found on Blackboard or in the Spring Creek Computer Lab in J110 in the Business Law lab folder.  You may email it to yourself or download it to a floppy disk or CD.

Q.5 What if I need help with my Study Guide?
A.5 If you have honestly attempted to answer the Study Guide questions and also cross-checked your results with at least one other student you may come to my office hours and I will work with you on the questions you are still unsure of. I will not go over every answer, so be prepared with the questions you really need to have clarified.

Q.6 Will you answer questions over the phone or by email about the Study Guide
A.6 No.

Q.7 Do I have to work with a group?
A.7 Not for tests, but if you work alone you will miss the opportunity to check if your answers are correct.  Working with a group can significantly improve your grade. You will have to work with a group if the project requires it.

Q.8 Is there any extra credit?
A.8 No. Your grade is the average of your test grades.

Q.9 What are the exams like?
A.9 Generally, 90% will be multiple choice, 10% essay and, possibly, a few bonus questions that could take various forms.  Precise information for each test will be announced in class.

Q.10 What if I miss class?
A.10 It is not necessary to get my prior permission unless you will be missing an exam.  However, keep in mind the following: All vital information regarding class activities, including exam dates and times and project deadlines will be announced in class.  Do not telephone or email me for this information, I will not respond.  If you need to know - come to class or ask a classmate.  I will answer your questions on these issues in person in my office or in class only. The class calendar is only a guideline, you cannot always rely on it.  You are responsible for all information that I announce in class.  If you are going to miss class it is imperative that you ask another student what was said during your absence.

Q.11 What if I have to miss an exam?
A.11 If you contact me prior to the exam I will generally arrange something with you, either a make-up exam or a make-up project or paper (my decision, no options).  If you fail to contact me prior to the exam then I will likely not let you make up the exam except in verifiable emergency situations.
