The Exam didn’t Go So Well?

As stated in class, Biology or any other lab science can be a total shock.  Keep in mind that laboratory sciences are actually double 3-hour courses…Lecture and Lab.

You must think in terms of taking two 3-hour courses, rather than one 4-hour course.

Have you made use of resources available to you as you study biology?  Consider the following:

1.     Do you study every day?

2.     Do you spend at least 12 hours or more a week in reading, studying, and staying caught up?

3.     Do you use the Student Study Guide to preview and review each chapter?

4.     Do you use the CD that came with your textbook?  (See me if you do not have one.)

5.     Have you used the Chemistry of Life CD ROM (in media center) or the Introduction to Chemistry for Biology Students, a short programmed course book available in the book store?

6.     Have you tried using the Campbell website mentioned in the insert in your textbook?

7.     Do you review notes after each class?  (Preferably right after class…)

8.     Do you ask questions in class?

9.     Are you willing to spend extra time after the class to get help from the instructor?

10.                        Are you alive?  If you are, then it is possible to accomplish numbers 1-9.

If you are convinced that the job and family responsibilities are keeping you from doing everything you need to do for this course, well,…
