ESSAY OBJECTIVES

This is a "review", meaning that a summary is NOT enough. You must offer your opinion.

State a clear overall opinion on the quality of an *approved film.

Do you think this film is "art" (good art/bad art)? Why/why not?

Evaluate each element, and use descriptions to support of your overall opinion.

*Use of films outside of the CCCC Auteur Film series must be approved by the instructor.

the quality of this film? Consider themes or other important aspects of the film.

WARNINGS

Do not simply summarize the plot of the film.

Provide your opinions on the film's content, and support these opinions with details from the film.

Do not simply write that you loved it or hated it.

There is no "right" or "wrong" reaction to a film,

but, whatever your opinion is, you must support it with details from the film.

IF YOU DO NOT SUPPORT YOUR POINT OF VIEW, YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE CREDIT.

Ask yourself, what did I experience in this film that caused this response?

Try to allow the experience of writing about the film to help you better understand your reaction to it.
