COURSE DESCRIPTION
Introduction to the solar system, stars, stellar groupings and galaxies;
telescopes and other astronomical instruments are discussed. Physical
characteristics of the motion of bodies in the solar system are studied along
with stellar evolution, supernova, black holes, neutron stars, comets, pulsars
and galaxies. Laboratory exercises, night observations, and planetarium and
observatory visits combine to enhance lecture material. 4 credit hours.
