- Music to learn for audition will be available 1 month before the auditions and will be placed in 3 locations: A177 (Fine arts office), B180, B121 (on file cabinet)
- Memorized, ACAPELLA solo appropriate for the choir you audition for. It is performed in front of everyone. exceptions can be made if you don't plan on singing solos in the group.
- If you are accepted into the group, be prepared to sign up/pay for the class the same day.
- You cannot enroll for Expressions or Chamber Singers until AFTER the auditions.

Collin Choirs: meeting times and other info
Chorale Meets on Monday evening from 5:30-8:15 pm. You may enroll without the permission of the director, but please email director if you are not sure if this is the right ensemble for you. Contact Kathy Morgan to make sure you are in the correct ensemble.
Expressions and Chamber Singers auditions are in B180 on Spring Creek Campus. Please arrive early and be prepared to sing for at least one and a half hours (time varies depending on the number of people auditioning.)
Please have a
prepared acapella solo that is under 2 minutes and suitable for the
ensemble that you are auditioning for (i.e. no pop or musical theatre
for Chamber Singers and no classical or country for Expressions). This
will be performed in front of everyone that is auditioning, exception can be made. It is a VERY informal and supportive atmosphere. We will read through a chart
together to see how you work with others and to see how you learn music. This chart is available one month prior to the auditions and is placed in 3 locations on Spring Creek campus (A177, B180, B121) and can be faxed if requested by calling 972-881-5107.
Each person should be able to sing a scale, some will be asked to sing minor and/or chromatic scales in groups. These can be taught and practiced before hand if you need help.
Bring a pencil/pen to fill out questionnaire as well as a calendar. Due to the amount of time you might want to bring some water.
If you need scholarship money to pay for the ensemble, please let me know.

About Choirs at Collin
Chamber Singers
The
Chamber Singers of Collin County Community College is a select group of
vocalists who specialize in performing repertoire that is both a
cappella and accompanied. Most of their repertoire is difficult. They have performed in collaboration with Collin's Dance Repertory and the Allen Symphony Chorus and Orchestra for the past two years as well as performing on their own concert in the John Anthony Theatre. Solos are encouraged too.
Expression Vocal Jazz Ensemble
Collin College's Spring Creek Campus in Plano, Texas is home to Expressions. This group
performs with their rhythm section directed by Pete Weise. They are
heard all over the Dallas-Ft. Worth area and recently toured the
southwest region of the country. Their repertoire includes ballads,
jazz standards, Latin grooves and new funky charts. Expressions has
participated in many Jazz Festivals including those held at Greeley,
Colorado; Montreaux and most recently UNT/Addison Jazz Festival. In addition the group is part of a collaboration with Richland College's and Brookhaven Colleges jazz choirs each year in the spring.
Chorale
The
Chorale at Collin College is an open group focusing on
larger works of choral repertoire, both a cappella and accompanied, as
well as some lighter choral repertoire. No audtion is required - just sign up!
We will have a lot of variety: There will be soft and beautiful pieces,
toe-tapping pieces, and much more. In addition, they have performed in collaboration with Allen Symphony Chorus and
Orchestra for the past two years and perform on their own concert as well in the John Anthony Theatre.
Solos are encouraged too.

Chamber Singers will perform two concerts this Spring 2008. An informal concert in THE ARTS gallery on the Spring Creek Campus on April 18, 2008 from 11:30-12:30. The formal concert is in C104 on the Spring Creek campus on April 18, 2008 starting 7 p.m. 2800 E.

Expressions performed at Richland College on March 29, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. as part of a collaborative vocal jazz festival with Collin College, Brookhaven College and Richland College. Rosana Eckerd gave a vocal clinic and two of Collin's singers,Danya Salinas and Vladimir Meyman, performed great solos for the everyone. The group gave an awesome evening performance as well.
Expressions participated in the North Texas Addison Jazz Festival on April 4th and Danya Salinas was selected as an Outstanding Vocal Jazz Soloist.
