System Software Engineer doing extensive modification and enhancements to the Activity Base Management system that is used by the EDS Infrastructure Organization. The application operates in a client server environment using Powerbuilder Development Tools and Informix Database Management. Responsibilities include designing and implementing graphic presentation and request of information. Also have responsibility for client unit and system testing and for building reusable components and security functions. Position requires knowledge of TP monitors.

System Software Engineer responsible for product development of 27 mainframe software utilities written in ALC, COBOL, and PL/I. Used System Life Cycle techniques including written test plans, documented test cases and results, and unit and system testing that included both regressing testing and testing of the new features of the product. All work conformed to ISO 9001 Certification. Tools used daily-included TSO, XPEDITER, IBM mainframe dump solving, Endeavor, SMP/E, MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Used interactive debugging tools. In one case was able to reduce the cycle time of a 16 to 24 hours job to 5 to 6 minutes. Informal leadership activities included the following:
Project leader to develop user exits for CA-7 scheduling mainframe jobs. Responsibility included developing both business and technical designs for the new products. Managed the specification changes, the project schedule, and the activities of other team members.
Planning team leader of a project to reengineer the group’s work processes and obtain ISO9001 certification. Accomplished the process reengineering and obtained ISO9001 certification on the first certification audit.

System Software Engineer Development (SSED) participated in an formalized program of classroom and self-study to expand my system engineer skill set to include a more in-depth study of MVS mainframe internal functions. Team member on a design team to develop a change management tool.

SE Manager in the Commercial Insurance Group responsible for the team that developed and performed the change management and program promotion process. Used a software solution to improve a change process allowing both increased accuracy and speed. Because of process improvements, the staff was reduced from 30 to 18. Also responsible for a team that converted 17,000 pages of user documentation to the IBM Bookmaster publishing system.

Technical Development Instructor/Manager teaching formal classes in COBOL, ALC, and JCL. Transitioned from teaching to teaching and managing the students. This responsibility was further expanded to managing a team of 6-8 instructors with 100+ students.

System Engineer in the Medicare online organization and had responsibility for the provider files of 16-20 accounts. The system was written in ALC and ran both online and batch. Supported 7 implementations by developing file conversions and customer-unique enhancements. Also responsible for the turnover of two systems to customers. Action required getting the systems up and running on the customer’s hardware and training the customer’s SE’s on how to run and maintain the system.

Production Supervisor at High Mark Inc. and was responsible for half the employees in a small plant making products for SEARS. Duties included a in-depth knowledge of hard metal manufacturing process (forming, stamping, welding, and painting). Managed and trained 15-18 hourly employees

U S Air Force Pilot whose primary responsibility was as a flight instructor and class commander for student pilots.. Taught both flight instruction and military courses.
