Professional Summary

Dr. Mary Emerson received her Ph.D. from the University of North Texas in Higher Education Administration and her Masters Degree in Computer Education and Cognitive Systems.  She has over 20 years experience in adult education, designing and developing curriculum, and teaching in both the academic and corporate environment.  Her areas of specialization include designing, and developing effective interactive multimedia training, and web pages.  Examples of Dr. Emerson’s experience include: 

  • Served as Coordinator of the E-Business Media and Computer Information Systems Program.

·          Designed the multimedia curriculum for a two-year Applied Associate Science Degree in E-Business Media (formerly Business Multimedia Technology) for Collin County Community College(CCCC). 

·          Designed, developed, and taught three Internet classes:  Computer Essentials, Introduction to Multimedia, and Instructional Design at CCCC.

·          Designed and authored two CD titles, “Designing Interactive Multimedia for Training,” and “Authorware Icons,” for classroom use. 

·          Developed and presented seminars statewide to educate faculty on the use of multimedia and other technologies in the classroom. 

·          Designed a web site for  Cognitive Alternatives.

·          Developed and taught Authorware workshop for “TGIF” Restaurant. 

·          Developed and taught workshop, “Interactive Multimedia Training for Instructional Designers,” for Nortel, Inc. 

·          Served as Instructional Designer for the development of an IMT to train nurses in the use of an on-line reporting system for Epic HealthCare and American Airlines. 

·          Directed the development of an IMT to educate and prepare telecommunication employees who must pass a yearly certification test which is required when working with electro-static sensitive devices. 

·          Designed, developed and taught a variety of courses and workshops on instructional design, educational methods, design and development of IMT instruction, and evaluation.            

After 14 years teaching as full-time faculty, Dr. Emerson is currently serving as an Associate Faculty at CCCC. Prior to coming to CCCC, she was a Technical Instructor for Motorola Computer Systems, Inc., and taught contract programming classes for Electronic Data Systems.  Dr. Emerson has published articles and spoken at state and international higher education conferences.
