1. How do I get a library card?
Please come inside a Collin College Library with your Collin College ID and fill out an application. A barcode will be placed on the back of your ID upon completion of the application. Barcodes are only given out to students/faculty/staff with a Collin College ID. A barcode is needed to check out library materials (books, software, cds, videos/dvds, etc.).
2. How do I check my library account for a list of items checked out?
You may check your library account online by selecting the tab "Patron Account" from our library catalog. It will prompt you for your library barcode number and the last 4 digits of your phone number.
3. How do I renew books?
You may renew books before their due date by calling the library at 972.548.6860 or by selecting the "Patron Account" tab in the catalog. You may renew books if there is NOT a hold (meaning there is not a waiting list) for that item and/or it is not due that day. If items are past due and you want to renew them, please bring them into the library for renewal.
4. Where can I find information regarding library hours?
You can find the hours for Collin Libraries at the library hours' webpage or by calling 972.548.6860 for Central Park Campus Library hours.
5. How much are late fees?
Late fees are $0.25 per day for late books, music cds, audio books, and software. Late fees for videos and dvds are $1.00 per day. If you have any questions regarding payment for late fees, please come by to talk to our staff or call us at 972.548.6860.
6. Do students have free printing?
Currently enrolled students have free printing of 300 black and white sheets per semester allotted to them with their paid student service fees.
7. What if I use up 300 sheets of free printing before the semester is out?
You may purchase a copy card for printing purposes. Printing cost is $0.10 per page. If you need assistance, please ask at the Reference Desk.
8. Do you have group study rooms available for students?
Individual study rooms are available for students in the library on a first-come, first-served basis. There is a large reserved study room for groups of 3 or more students. Please see the Reference Librarian on duty regarding usage of the large reserved study room.
9. Is the library wireless?
Central Park Campus library is wireless. Students may check out one of the library's computers to use within the library or they may bring theirs. For information regarding CougarLANd, the college's wireless network, please visit http://www.ccccd.edu/CougarLANd.html or call the Help Desk at 972.548.6555.
10. Does the library offer research assistance?
Yes, the library offers research assistance to students searching for a scholarly journal article to locating books on a particular subject. Research assistance is also available to faculty, staff, and community users. Please stop by the Reference Desk for assistance. You can make an appointment with a Reference Librarian for extended research help, you can call the Reference Desk with your questions at 972.548.6869, or e-mail us at cpclibrary@ccccd.edu.
11. What is the username and password to log on to the computers in the library?
You can locate your username by clicking here. The password is the last six digits of your College Wide ID (CWID).
12. How do I access the the databases for articles and electronic books (i.e, e-books) from home?

13. Does the library carry textbooks?
The library carries textbooks that have been donated to the library by instructors and/or departments. Those textbooks are available for use two (2) hours inside the library.
14. Does the library computers have cd burners?
Yes, the newer library computers have cd burning software installed. If you need assistance in locating a computer with cd burning capabilities and/or need help burning the cd, please ask at the Reference Desk.
15. Does the library have USB drives?
Yes, all computers are equipped with a USB drive.
16. I would like the library to get a copy of a particular book/dvd/video. Who do I talk to?
The staff at CPC Library always appreciates and welcomes suggestions for library materials. You can stop by the Reference Desk and talk to a librarian, or email the library at cpclibrary@ccccd.edu with your suggestion(s), or call us at 972.548.6869. The library may be able to get your material(s) through purchase or via interlibrary loan with another library.
